St Mark's Church
Dalston, East London
When the church hall at St Mark's Church, Dalston, East London needed re roofing, the architect wanted to replicate the existing roof and also match the roofs on the adjacent main church roof.
This called for blue grey Welsh slates for the main areas, with bands of Penrhyn Heather Blue ornamentals. The Penrhyn slates were produced specially to an imperial width in order to match the Maenofferen slates from Blaenau Ffestiniog, thereby allowing the roofer to maintain side laps.
